Biology – Embryologist
What do you currently do?
I’m currently the laboratory manager and embyrologist at an infertility practice located in Raleigh, North Carolina. I have been an embryologist for 15 years and have been managing the lab of embryologists and andrologists for 7 years now.
How did you start?
I always had a passion for biology and clinical sciences. I received my undergraduate in biology and received hands-on training as an andrologist and embryologist when I graduated with my Bachelor’s in Biology degree. I worked as an embryologist in a lab in Newark, Delaware for 10 years prior to moving to North Carolina to take the lab manager position. I completed my masters in clinical embryology last fall and I’m currently in my first year of a PhD program in Reproductive Clinical Sciences. I’d like to eventually become a lab director once my PhD is complete.
What are your hobbies and interests?
My hobbies include running, biking, traveling, breweries, and hanging with friends.
What is the most valuable experience you think you can share with someone?
Finding a career that you truly enjoy and building a positive team of coworkers around you is what makes your job enjoyable. I love what I do as I get to utilize my passion and interest in science as well as making a difference in patients’ lives by helping them build their families.
