What do you currently do?
I’m a Information Systems Security Engineer for the U.S. Navy. I’m also a Military Intelligence Systems Maintainer/Integrator for the U.S Army Reserve.
How did you start?
I started about 3 years ago, after worked for Locked Martin Space Division as Systems Administrator.
How did you start in cybersecurity?
After my Active Duty Service with the U.S. Army, with my family, we move to Dallas, TX. The office of the Texas Workforce helped me to participate in a work-study program, sponsored by Hewlett-Packard Enterprise. They selected 14 between more that 5000 applicants, and I was one of the 14. During the day, we work in the HP offices in Plano, TX as Account Security Officer, and during the night, we went to classes at the Collin College.
What are your hobbies and interests?
I enjoy read, sailing, motorsports like F1 and DTM, and recently I start looking about the Japanese carpentry.
What is the most valuable experience you think you can share with someone?
There are many experiences, and everyone contributed to what I’m now. The most significant was my military service, because I served in the Colombian Navy and the US Army, in different times, but after my deployment to Afghanistan with the US Army, is when I start growing in the cybersecurity field.
